Hot work tool steels

Hot work tool steels are alloyed tool steels for use where the surface temperature is generally above 200 °C. During use, the tool comes into short-term contact with hot, partly liquid metallic materials with a temperature well above 200 °C. In addition to a permanent thermal load, the tool steel is also subjected to temperature change stress. These high temperature changes cause high stresses on the tool contour, which only metallurgically high-purity materials can withstand. Voestalpine BÖHLER Edelstahl offers a wide range of tailor-made materials, from conventional grades for standard applications to electro slag remelted materials, for demanding applications, to alloys melted in vacuum arc furnace for the highest performance in die casting.

ISODISC – Hot work tool steels in conventionally quality with special heat treatment
VMR – Special materials subjected to vacuum-melting or vacuum-remelting during at least one stage of manufacture.
